17:25:43 Court breaks for lunch
Proceedings have paused for a lunch break.
They’ll resume at 6.15pm UK time.
17:25:09 Cassie only released 10% of work she recorded during Diddy relationship
Prosecutor Maurene Comey ends the session by asking Deonte Nash about Cassie’s music.
He says he would often see her in the recording studio.
Asked how much music recorded during their relationship was released, he replies: “I would say, and I am being generous, 10%.”
He adds that Diddy said they had to see how it performed before putting anything out on streaming platforms – and would threaten not to release anything when she said something he didn’t like.
A reminder that Cassie was under contract with Combs’ record label in a 10-album deal, but only released one full studio album, in 2006.
17:21:41 Diddy grabbed stylist by the jacket to tell him how he should do Cassie’s hair
The prosecution asks Nash about a Vanity Fair Oscars Party he attended with Cassie and Diddy in 2014.
He recalls Diddy demanding Cassie wear her hair up, grabbing Nash by the jacket to force him to change it for her.
17:18:59 Diddy didn’t like Cassie being out without him
Nash recalls that Combs would often tell Cassie that she couldn’t go out without him.
One night, he was with her at a gay club in Los Angeles with singer Rita Ora and others, he claims.
She then “got a call from Puff” that said “she better get her ass to his house” and she “panicked”, he says.
17:14:55 Diddy called Cassie a ‘slut’ and a ‘bitch’ – and threatened her parents
Deonte Nash says he was “very close” to Cassie, Diddy’s ex-partner and the key witness in the trial.
He tells the prosecution he was with her “every day” while they worked together and would often hear Diddy referring to her as a “bitch”, “hoe”, and “slut”.
Nash says this made Cassie “sad”, “cry” – and “sometimes go into a depression”.
“He said he would beat her ass,” he tells the court.
Sometimes Diddy would even threaten Cassie’s parents and ultimately get them “fired from their jobs”, he adds.
17:07:52 Stylist who worked with Diddy and Cassie ‘absolutely does not want to give evidence’
Maurene Comey for the prosecution asks Deonte Nash whether he is here today because he received a subpoena, whereby witnesses are compelled to give evidence.
He says yes, and when asked if he wants to be giving evidence, he replies: “Absolutely not”.
Nash explains he was working as a celebrity stylist, and in 2008 he worked with both Diddy and Cassie.
17:04:40 Stylist takes the stand
Stylist Deonte Nash is next to give evidence. He’s wearing a white shirt and white trousers.
Cassie testified earlier in the trial that Nash was a friend and that he was present when Combs allegedly attacked her, causing her to cut her eyebrow when she hit the corner of her bed.
She told the court that Nash jumped on Combs’ back in her defence because Combs was trying to attack her.
17:02:36 Defence doubles down on LAFD’s failed attempts to call Cassie and Diddy’s assistant
The defence returns to Lance Jiminez’s failed attempts to reach both Diddy’s former assistant Capricorn Clark and his ex-partner Cassie, following female DNA being found on the Molotov cocktail.
The lawyers ask if there’s anything else notable about Jiminez’s attempts to contact Cassie.
Jiminez says he “left messages” but “got no response or return calls”.
He managed to track down her father, he adds, who said he would tell her the officer wanted to speak to her.
As for Clark, her brother told him to “leave her alone” and there was a “verbal confrontation” between the two.
Finally, the defence asks Jiminez whether he reported the glove in the back of the car, to which he replies, no, before he steps down.
16:55:39 Fire investigator quizzed about damage to Kid Cudi’s car
Jiminez is now being quizzed about the damage sustained to Kid Cudi’s car.
He is shown images of the Porsche and the items found inside it that have already been shown to the jury.
One is of a single black driving glove, believed to belong to Cudi, on the backseat of the Porsche.
16:32:09 Cassie and Diddy’s assistant were ‘unreachable’
Fire officer Lance Jiminez is back on the stand and being asked about subsequent interviews in the arson investigation.
He says he reached out to Capricorn Clark, Diddy’s former assistant who we heard from yesterday, but wasn’t able to track her down.
The investigator says he made “multiple phone calls” and an in-person house visit – but still couldn’t reach her.
He also failed to reach Cassie to ask her about the arson at Kid Cudi’s house, he adds.
A reminder that earlier, we heard that the beer bottle element of the Molotov cocktail had traces of female DNA on it (see 3.37pm post).
